Anti-Bullying
At St Stephen's, we believe that every child is made in the image and likeness of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. Rooted in our Catholic ethos, we are committed to nurturing a safe, inclusive, and loving environment where all members of our school community feel valued and supported.
We take bullying of any kind very seriously. Whether verbal, physical, emotional, or online, bullying goes against the Gospel values we teach and strive to live by every day - love, kindness, forgiveness, and justice.
Our approach to anti-bullying is proactive and rooted in our mission to follow Jesus' example in how we treat one another. We teach our pupils to recognise the importance of empathy, respect, and the courage to stand up for what is right.
Our anti-bullying approach includes:
-
A clear behaviour policy based on Gospel values and mutual respect.
-
Regular teaching through PSHE, RHE (Relationships and Health Education), and collective worship to promote positive relationships.
-
Opportunities for pupil voice, including school council and peer support initiatives.
-
Immediate and appropriate action taken by staff when bullying is reported or suspected.
-
Support for both the child who has been affected and the child displaying bullying behaviour, ensuring all involved are guided toward reconciliation and growth.
We work closely with parents, carers, and the wider community to ensure that our school remains a place where every child feels safe, heard, and loved.
If you have any concerns about bullying, please contact the school office so that we can work together to resolve any issues swiftly and sensitively.
"Let us love one another, for love comes from God." — 1 John 4:7
